Koffi D. Klu, MBA


President Koffi_Blessing on Africa Koffi D. Klu is the Co-Founder and President of Blessings on Africa, Inc. Koffi has over 15 years of successful experience in domestic and global program design and implementation, data analysis and reporting, and quality improvement within the Insurance and Financial Services Industry Worldwide. He has earned a reputation for his strong analytic capabilities, sound judgment and decision-making, collaborative style, and exceptional analytical and technical skills, which have resulted in his successfully driving technology enhancements, reducing operational costs through process improvements, and enhancing staff productivity on the domestic and international fronts.

For the past 12 years, Koffi has been with HSBC Group, one of the world's largest banking and financial services organizations with an international network throughout Europe, Asia, the Americas, and Africa. Koffi has been a recipient of the HSBC Profitable Growth Stars Award twice during his tenure with HSBC in recognition of his top performance. Koffi is currently a Medical Underwriter for HSBC Insurance Services, a subsidiary of HSBC Group.

Koffi also works with energy companies in United States and grass roots organizations in Africa in developing innovative systems to enhance energy efficiency in the solar, wind, and biofuel sectors and reducing global dependency on fossil fuels.

Koffi,s passion, leadership and commitment to global community development extend to the non-profit sector as well. He was the Finance Director for the Togo, W. Africa chapter of the Friends of Earth, an influential, international network of grassroots groups in 70 countries specializing in environmental protection. Prior to this position, Koffi was their International Camp Director. He earned the respect of camp personnel, donors and board members for his strong camp leadership; his success in marketing the camp's mission and authoring compelling grant proposals.

Koffi brought his passion for the development of youth to the United States, where he joined the Concordia Language Villages in Bemidji, Minnesota, a world-language and culture education program structured to prepare young people for responsible citizenship in our global community. As an International Counselor, he developed and supervised programs, and also taught French throughout the social and cultural programs and activities. Koffi was a member of the American Translators Association (ATA), specializing in English-French translation.

Koffi has two Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Regis University, Graduate School of Professional Studies (Accounting & Finance emphasis and Marketing emphasis), and received both a Master's and Bachelor's Degree in Economic Sciences, with a management concentration, from the University of Benin, Graduate School of Economics and Management, in Lome-Togo, West Africa. Koffi is a member of the National Black MBA Association, the Association of Home Office Underwriters (AHOU) and the Life Office Management Association (LOMA Society of Greater New York, and has numerous certifications in the insurance, underwriting and customer service arenas.

Komi S. Klu, FLMI, FLHC

Vice president_Blessing on Africa Komi S. Klu is the Senior Vice President of Blessings on Africa responsible for microfinance initiatives. Komi brings to the organization a wealth of knowledge and experience in both profit and non-profit global operation development and management. Komi has more than 15 years of experience in international and domestic operational and project management, and has earned a reputation for his strategic and tactical planning and execution of for- profit and humanitarian projects alike.

Komi has held progressively responsible positions within HSBC Insurance Services, a subsidiary of HSBC Group, one of the world’s largest banking and financial services organizations with an international network throughout Europe, Asia, the Americas, and Africa. He was nominated for, and recently completed, the prestigious HSBC Next Generation Leadership Program, a 2-year program preparing select staff for global company leadership. Komi is currently the Vice President of Operations/Department Manager overseeing 4 multi-lingual Customer Service Call Centers in the United States and India, which handle more than 1.5 million calls per year with an average sales volume of $4.5 million. In this position, Komi has a proven record of successful design and execution of global resource initiatives, reallocating domestic and international operational functions saving the company nearly $2 million. He oversees a staff of 220 management, service and sales staff, and is known for his sincere, direct and collaborative style. Prior to this position he started out in HSBC Insurance Services as a Senior Claims Examiner, and soon after promoted to Claims Manager in recognition of his business acumen, coaching skills, and exceptional performance in improving claim processing time by 57% in less than a year. As Claims Manager he was acknowledged for improving departmental efficiency, reducing operational costs and receiving unprecedented positive customer feedback.

Before Komi's career with HSBC, he began his career in the insurance industry as a Field Underwriter/Account Executive for Monumental Life Insurance Company where he was credited with increasing new sales by 15%, and improving the rate of retained policies from 88% to 96%.

Komi brings his passion and strategic leadership to the non-profit sector as well. He serves as Mission Director of Middle Smithfield Presbyterian Church in East Stroudsburg, PA, and has designed and implemented several sustainable development micro-projects successful in enhancing skill development and income generation of rural West African natives. He also led a fundraising campaign generating $88.000 in funds and medical supplies for a disease-ridden community of 13,000 people in West Africa, and personally led annual mission trips to Africa building a village church and distributing 20,000 bibles. Komi is also a frequent speaker at international development conferences.

Komi was educated in the United States and Europe, holding a Master's Degree (MS) in Human Resources Management from Widener University in Chester, PA; a Post-Master's Degree in Business and Private Law from Bordeaux University, in Bordeaux, France; and a Bachelor's Degree in Law from Benin University in Lome, Togo. Komi also has the following certifications: Life and Health New Jersey Insurance Producer' Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI); Fellow and Associate, Life and Health Claim (FLHC, ALHC); and Associate in Customer Service (ACS).

Reverend Jeff Brower

Speacial advisor_Blessing on Africa Jeffrey Brower is an ordained Minister of Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church (USA), and has served congregations in North Carolina and Pennsylvania. The path he took to the ministry was unusual. Jeff worked in a wide variety of locations - from Cape Cod to Denver, and in equally varied fields - from hotel manager, to Social Director at a large resort hotel, to work with delinquent youth on an actual wagon train. The Lord called Him into the ministry when he was working as the Sales and Advertising Director of a daily newspaper in upstate NY. He graduated from SUNY Fredonia (Cum Laude) with a BS in Business Administration/Marketing, and from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity (Magna Cum Laude). Jeff has been married to Judi for 20 years, and they have 3 children - Zack, 17, Carly, 14 and Maggie, 12.

Jeff has been serving at Middle Smithfield Presbyterian Church for the past 10 years. Together with Komi Klu, Pastor Jeff led the first mission team from MSPC to Agome-Tomegbe, Togo where the team helped with the construction of a new church building, and went house-to-house praying for the needs of hundreds of people. He has returned three times, building lasting relationships with the people of the village. In 2008, Pastor Jeff was invited to address the 65th Synod of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Togo (EEPT). He humbly accepted the invitation. He has also preached in several other churches in Lome, and in the countryside.

Pastor Jeff also led a mission team to Bordeaux, France, where they had been invited to participate in a citywide revival. Pastor Jeff has also participated in the Oxford Round Table, Oxford University, England, presenting a paper and participating in discussions on the topic, Science and Religion: Is There Common Ground? Pastor Jeff looks forward to returning to Togo to connect or reconnect with brothers and sisters in Christ.
